My story

I'm Daniëlle. Mum of two teenage boys, chronically busy and creative for as long as I can remember. My workspace looks like an art explosion just happened. And somehow, something always comes out of it that feels exactly right to me. That's basically the story of my life: between chaos and balance.

Cairns didn't come with a business plan or a five-year vision. It started with a question I kept getting asked: do you actually sell this? No, I didn't. Until I thought: uhm.. why not?

Because apparently there are people who find what I make just as beautiful as I do. And honestly? My house is getting a little full. Just kidding, it just makes me really happy. Every piece that finds a new home takes a little bit of me with it. My footprint and what I leave behind: my legacy. Corny and cliché? Absolutely. But it's true

I work with a water-based composite material, free from solvents and harmful substances. A more conscious choice than most alternatives, and a joy to work with.

Every piece starts as an idea in my head. I test it, experiment, refine it, until it's exactly what I had in mind. No happy accident, there's a whole process behind it.

But - and here's where it gets interesting - colours, pours, swirls and speckles don't fully cooperate. That's not a flaw, that's the beauty of it! Every piece is therefore truly unique. You will never get exactly what someone else has.

And the name Cairns? Those are the stacked stones you find on hiking trails, deliberately placed by people as waymarkers, as a sign of life. Scattered stones everywhere, until someone picks them up one by one and stacks them into something perfectly balanced. Not by chance, but with care. One stone on top of the other. Exactly that.
