Bowl (L) Smoky Quartz

This bowl is part of the Resonance collection. Each piece is handmade, so every one is unique.

A high-gloss sealer adds depth to the colour and brings out the natural details of the bowl.

Its shape flares out slightly towards the base -clean lines with a soft feel. One half is calm and solid ochre yellow. The other combines genuine smoky quartz with terrazzo and sand from Zeeland, a coastal province in the Netherlands. The smoky tones beautifully complement the taupe, brown and terracotta terrazzo chips. And of course, a minimal very subtle touch of copper flake couldn’t be left out.

A little fun fact: smoky quartz is associated with grounding, release and balance. And that fits Cairns perfectly: between chaos and balance.

I work with a water-based composite material. A considered choice, and a pleasure to work with.
