Tray (s) Smoky Quartz

This little tray is part of the Resonance collection. Each piece is unique thanks to the handmade process.

A high-gloss sealer adds depth to the colour and brings out the natural details.

Around one fifth of the little tray is a calm, solid shade of slightly darker ochre yellow. The rest combines genuine smoky quartz with terrazzo and sand from Zeeland, a coastal province in the Netherlands. The smoky tones complement the taupe, brown and terracotta terrazzo chips beautifully. And of course, a very subtle touch of copper flakes couldn’t be left out.

A little fun fact: smoky quartz is associated with grounding, release and balance. And that fits Cairns perfectly: between chaos and balance.

I work with a water-based composite material. A considered choice, and a pleasure to work with.
